I would say my best hope for a smartphone to purchase this year would be one that has 2 stereo audio speakers, 5G inbuilt already, a headphone jack, LiDAR sensors on the back cam, equally balanced symmetry for screen from top to bottom and chargers in the box.

In the past each new mobile phone brought a new generation of cameras - which pretty much failed to progress after the Nokia Lumia series. Now, each year we have a new phone, with only minimal differences - but hey, to make us feel good, lets not add a charger and make a smaller eco-friendly box ! Wow ! How about making a removeable battery so a phone will last twice as long? Now that would be REAL eco-friednly

Marques being fine with 700$ phones having plastic builds but every indian reviewer almost always jumping onboard to bash any company that sells a 300-400$ phone with a plastic build. A recent ex would be the newly launched Samsung midrange A series. Such a contrast in what reviewers and consumers expect in phone markets of different regions I terms of value for money!

I was waiting for Xiaomi to release something like the Mi 9T Pro, it had the latest chip available in the market, amazing screen with no punchhole or waterdrop for around 450$, I wish more companies do it, hide the front camera, because the punch hole looks like a planet in my eyes, and I barely use it anyway, I'd prefer a sharp high resolution / refresh rate screen and powerful internal, than a front facing camera. I've got a question, the prices are higher because of the silicon value being more expensive ?

Just a random comment: My first touch screen smartphone ever was the iPhone 5s. My second one (I'm still using) is the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro. I never regretted the switch from Apple to Xiaomi. It was one of the better decisions that I've made in the past. This Xiaomi Mi 11 looks amazing anyways but my OCD-trait doesn't like the camera on the top left of the screen. My Mi 9T Pro has a full screen as well, with better looking corners and a selfie-camera that slides out of the top of the phone. I guess the Mi 11 doesn't have the sliding camera anymore and that's why it's implemented in the screen itself... Everything has it's pro's and it con's of course. But if you'd ask me to pick a next phone, i'd still consider the sliding out camera-phone with full screen over the full-screen-phone with black dot from camera in the screen itself. Call me crazy, you can. (I'm not a frequent selfie-camera user anyways, that probably already counts for a big part of my argument).

This type of plastic is not really much related to medium priced phones only. Lets not forget that this type of fake leather was used on the very very expensive Oppo Find X2 Pro which retailed for nearly 1,500 Euros and was mainly introduced by Samsung for the expensive Note 4. I feel like making it free will make people always click on it. As much of a move towards eco friendliness we have, when people see free, people click yes. If they made it 10 bucks, that's not a whole lot of money considering budget phones are still in the couple hundred bucks range, it is still enough to make people think about it. If we can just get people to take a moment and think about whether they need it, most people would make an informed decision.
